Bigger Tip or Jail
Bit of a Fopp
I am starting to fall in love with a record shop and it feels almost like the times I used to enjoy when Powercuts (Yanks records) was open many years ago, now that was a great record shop. Anyway it's nowehere as good as Powercuts but a lot better than most of the major stores in manchester. The name of the shop is Fopp, crazy name but it's got crazy prices on it's CD's. If you've got a £5 note in your pocket you can walk out with a nice gem in one of their see through bags and possibly £2 change. It's situated on the paved area just off market street which lies in between H&M and Tesco. It sells CD/DVD/books and has a coffee shop downstairs along with a Vinyl and DJ area, where you can listen to your tracks. However it's the reissue CD's which they sell for a fiver, picked up a great funk classic by Herbie Hancock's - Fat Albert Rotunda,Donald Byrd's - Street Ladyand Hip City a funk compilation for only £3. I am not sure who does the buying for this store but the selection is pretty good as the jazz selection is awesome. Well worth a visit.
2 much for some poor soul
It appears that some of our fellow mambers have seen the light and become rather pious just like any diehard christian fundamentalist. It seems that they are offended by my reporting of the odd bit of nakedness that I discover quite by accident on the internet. In keeping with their new found relligious zeal, I will attempt to keep the porn to a minimum but then I have to ask "what do I do then now?".

Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton what is she actually famous for some reality tv show as well as having a very rich daddy and the star of her infamous porn video, which has been doing the rounds on the internet for months now. In the true spirit of american capiatalism she's released her own collection (via Amazon.com) of trinkets and knicknacks. The question is would she actually wear this stuff and I expect it to be all at 75% off by new year.
What made me laugh on the page was the section (left handside) 'see paris at work' and after looking at her porn vid, I think millions already have done.
Oh I came across it whilst looking up details of the new anita baker album.

Here She Comes
People people the new Anita Baker album will be out Sept 27 on the Blue Note label, so expect it to be full of jazzy flavours (lovely). I haven't heard anything from it yet, have you? hgas she still got it or will it be the biggest disappointment of 2004, I doubt it and it's one to add to the must buy list. However considering the length of time she's been away, she's looking as fine as ever unlike chemically addicted Whitney Houston.
Jill Scott
Her new album is out now and it's on my to buy list as it'as good if not better than her last album, she's got talent and it's much better than the new Angie Stone CD, which is on my 2 buy but only if cheap list. As posted earlier Jill Scott's here in November and I'll be there as she's a definate must see.
Sista
I stumbled across this video series whilst accidently typing into my filesharing search engine black lesbo! Apparently Sista is a series that is currently at Vol. 18 so I've got some catching up to do. It's all girl on girl action and very tasty it is too, the ladies are kinda tasty and they seem to enjoy their roles. I find it very enjoyable but not sure why they keep spitting on each others bits. Plenty of dildo. starpon action but the sistas seem to love the tongue and there's one sista who's got a tongue as big as a giraffe's, no wonder the other sista was howling when she dug it in deep!
Here's a quick link to the videos

Prestwich Soul Nite
Hopefully there will be full attendance by all the usual suspects and maybe a few more but I am hoping that the musical content will be a lot better than the last time I was there as it was quite poor. I do feel tempted to do a little spot but who knows.
We Funk Radio
Just came across this on one of my Mac websites and it's WeFunk Radio blasting out their old school hip-hop/funk/jazz for all and sundry and it's FREE (ain't the internet wonderful!). You can listen to it quite a few formats but the best bit is that you are able to download individual shows using the mp3 formats (what else). At the moment in the archives, there are over 166 shows available for download. Each show is about 2 hours long so that's a file size of 52-60MB, so if you're on dial-up tuff titty. WeFunk Radio giving you the funk right back atcha!

High Praise for Mediocrity
I have been watching the Olympics and I must say I've been really taking an interest in it especially that of the Uk athletics team. All I can say is that we in Britain seem to celebrate mediocrity but we wrap it up in 'gutsy, heroic and similar words when actually 'NOT GOOD ENOUGH' would suffice. Michael Johnson summed it up really when he accused quite rightfully that our sprinters have been left behind by the Americans and other nations. The reason being that if you make it into the UK athletics team you are treated as a celebrity such as Darren Campbell etc. In america there are sprinters who are faster than our UK sprinters who are not even in the US team and we have never heard of them. That was it for me as the great Michael Johnson was basically saying we reward mediocrity and he was damn right and I am glad he said it. Take Darren Campbell's interview at the end off his 200m semi. he stated he tore his hamstring in an earlier round but managed to run in the 200m semi, then stated he was in perfect fitness. This guys trying to pull a fast one on us, all I know if your hamstring has gone you definately won't be running a 200m semi and most definately will not be in the relay team. Another case of not been good enough and having so many excuses nothing seems to make sense.
Deniece Lewis, shame on you for not having the guts to finish your last two events, so what if you'd finish 18th, probably more to do with you being beaten by a young unknown who hasn't had the specialist attention UK athletics lavished on you. Kelly gets bronze and had your coach spent some time with her and worked on her javelin she could have won silver. This girl has the potential to win gold if given the right coaching but I reckon UK athletics will support golden girl Lewis all the way to Beijing, where she wont win any medals, as she's well past her best and doesn't have that hunger anymore but the money will do her fine.
I wont even bother to start on PR as enough has been said but as stated earlier we celebrate mediocrity and she's never won a medal at a major tournament ever and we have her down as winning the marathon, she believed her own hype the poor cow. The japanese lady Noguchi blasted her into the greek sidewalk, giving up and weeping and the daily mirror's headline has her down as a hero. I think not but then again when was the last time the daily mirror got a headline right. I watched the marathon and saw PR chuck in the towel as she slipped into 4th place and it was plain to see, the site of Britains so called gold medal hope for the marathon weeping on a greek dual carriageway was pitiful but again we enjoy celebrating mediocrity. She runs a few selective marthons and wins them sets a world record time in the marathon so what it counts for nothing in the Olympics. She' wont run Boston as it's too hilly for her, which I guess she'd never run the Stockport marathon which is a pig of a course. However all the excuses in the world do not take away the fact that PR jacked it in but our two other UK runners finished the course and one of them had to get time off from Dollond & Aitchinson to go to Athens. These two ladies wouldn't have had half the sponsorship support etc PR has received but they did themselves proud, they finished. If PR now attempts to run the 10K, then she's a bigger fool than she looks as everyone know how to beat her, sit on her shoulder and then overtake her in the last 200m as she's no kick at all. Gold medal I don't think so, lucky if she finishes 4th.
Kelly Holmes run is probably the best run by a British woman ever in a major tournament but I am sick of seeing it now BBC overkill. The girl did good but how long has it taken her to get there but she managed to imporove at each major event when she wasn't injured. That race should be given to all young athletes even if they are Shot putters!
That lad Amir Khan, the boy can box and so what if he's only 17 but he's got a tough fight on friday and if he does his homework and fights smart then he's in the final, if he's meeting a Cuban, then I am inclined to put my money on the Cuban as their talent pool is immense. If he does get gold I hope he stays amatuer and fights in beijing otherwise he'll end up like Nas, a good talent wasted, the vultures of the pro game are circling already.
The british cyclist racing in the Madison (200 laps of the circuit)today one fell off, got back on his bike and carried on they came 3rd and got a bronze, now thats what I call guts and true grit.
The track and field team have been so piss poor why bother give them lottery funding when it could be pumped into other sports to give us real winners. UK athletics needs a swift kick in the arse to get rid of the underachievers and work with some talented hungry for success youngsters. I like to feel that my lottery money is being well spent but on this showing it's not. Beijing in 2008 will be very tough as the Chinese will be preparing Athletes for every event possible and you know what they may just win everything in sight.

Superfreak is Dead
Rick James is now officially dead at the age of 56 and he died of natural causes, which is even more suprising. I always thought he died many years ago from all the cocaine he took in the 80's, which screwed up his career. A perfect example of how to f*ck up your rock star life and end up stony broke. He was no Bono was he but hey I hope he's made it to better place?
The State of Hip Hop
I found this on a website wont give you the address as you'll be there all day and night! This is what the guy (?) had to say and for that I'll shake his hand, on second thoughts only if I am wearing gloves!
Nah, he aint bitter justb thatb he's sick of watching talentless bums making money for doing not much badly.
Fayner Posts: Hip-Hop music is so uninspired and follow-the-leader. One homie gets an Escalade, they all get an Escalade. Pit Bulls, Crystal, fucking giant clocks around their necks, tags still on the hat, one pant leg up, there's nothing rap folk won't mimic. It's sad.
This 50 Cent gangsta ain't nothing special, just another crook who got lucky. People love him 'cause MTV tells them to. He's no Slick Rick, no Public Enemy, not even Vanilla Ice. He's this years Sisqo or Coolio or Onyx or Kriss Kross. He'll be whack when every single other rapper becomes just like him, and the next pied piper hits the scene and everyone apes his shtick.
Snoop Dogg did Doggystyle in 2001, sold like 1 million units. Soon DJ Yella, Mystikal, Lil' Jon were all breakdancing onto the bandwagon. All about the benjamins yo.
Now Lloyd Banks, my guess some bum who knew 50 Cent and made it big in his "band," brings us Groupie Love, a "one of a kind" vid which lets us see the world of hip hop stars. Lil' Jon did the exact same thing in his "one of a kind" project too. My guess is it's the same damn DVD with a different egotistical rap star sippin' champagne and smoking blunts and waving glocks and flashing money.
Ever see Groundhog Day? That's what we're dealing with here.
I can't understand how everyone is so impressed by these posers. The cars, the houses, the bling-bling, it ain't theirs. It's money loaned on their future record sales.
I'm so bitter, ain't I?

The selectors selection
Melle Mel's 3 track selection was so mind blowingly good I had to share it with you all. Here's what he wrote in his most recent email.
Well people he did ask for a reply so leave your comments here.
Here are my three selections
1.I'm in the mood for dancing - The Nolans
2. Dance the Kung Fu - Carl Douglas
3. You Make Me Feel Like Dancing - Leo Sayer
In case anyone has duplicated any of these, My 4th choice would be, Dancing
Queen by a Swedish group by the name of Abba. They won the Eurovision song
contest with Waterloo which went straight in at No1. Which makes them the
first foreign group to win. If anybody has a problem with this selection,
Could you let me know in writing.

The Future is Here
Last night l was at a house party in Wolverhampton the music was mainly reggae but it was GOOD and I am no big fan of it either. The DJ's played some blinding tracks from yesteryear (Easy by Jimmy Lindsay etc) as well as some great soul covers (I have a reggae copy of "The feelin's killing me" somewhere must dig it out). Anyway halfway through the night a chap appears with his laptop and did a set direct from his laptop after plugging into the mixer. He was using something called DJ traktor, which is a professional dj software and it looked the dogs b*llocks. The thing was it worked very well indeed, set up and press play, saves carrying your CD/vinyl around. The funny thing was no one batted an eyelid but I was all over his laptop looking at what he was doing. The future is here, right now, right here!

Syreeta Wright
Just read in a forum that the good lady has passed away due to cancer. She will be missed but her music lives on. My advice is get your hands on a copy of her debut album produced by Stevie Wonder in the 70's. Lets not forget she was Mrs Wonder for some years.

Caravans in Fleetwood have showers don't they?
As I have volunteered to attend the whole shebang, I now am dreaming about a shower situation occuring with you know who! Hopefully, we'll have the webcam set up streaming live on the internet ala big brother for all to see (at a price £4.99 per month) along with the DVD (Soulgirl Showers Vol. 1 - £14.99 includes many extras!), which we'll be able to sell later at Prestwich. Now how much would we pay to see a similar situation as per this photo and say any of you stumbled upon it would you 1) keep quiet and watch 2)try and find your digital camera for memeory recall purposes. 3) After 10 minutes attempt to join by pretending you wanted to take a shower. 4) Find the biggest box of kleenex and just watch and w*nk
Tuff choices for all!

Looking for the Big G
This is an public information broadcast for those of you lacking in knowledge of the ladies inner anatomy, this might get you some extra points but remember to remove all rings and gloves before having a go!
Friday Night's Alright for Dancin'
All I can remember is that the music was pretty crap in parts and I eneded up pissed by accident! The highlight(not) of the evening had to be RS playing Luthers'Better Love' and it isn't even good to dance to. Personally the room needs a slight jazz injection nothing too hardcore but the odd Tania maria 'Come with Me' or 'Caveman Boogie' wouldn't go amiss. I reckon one of us should step up to the plate and give it a whirl as we couldn't do any worse could we. If things got really bad we could always throw on Body Fusion! - Mr Fixit
p.s. I was hoping this young lady would be there but there's always next month!
