Bit of a Fopp
I am starting to fall in love with a record shop and it feels almost like the times I used to enjoy when Powercuts (Yanks records) was open many years ago, now that was a great record shop. Anyway it's nowehere as good as Powercuts but a lot better than most of the major stores in manchester. The name of the shop is Fopp, crazy name but it's got crazy prices on it's CD's. If you've got a £5 note in your pocket you can walk out with a nice gem in one of their see through bags and possibly £2 change. It's situated on the paved area just off market street which lies in between H&M and Tesco. It sells CD/DVD/books and has a coffee shop downstairs along with a Vinyl and DJ area, where you can listen to your tracks. However it's the reissue CD's which they sell for a fiver, picked up a great funk classic by Herbie Hancock's - Fat Albert Rotunda,Donald Byrd's - Street Ladyand Hip City a funk compilation for only £3. I am not sure who does the buying for this store but the selection is pretty good as the jazz selection is awesome. Well worth a visit.
